Infection controls and universal precautions protect clients and staff alike. Everyone benefits from rigorous infection control – you, your dentist, and the dental team. The cornerstone is in a good and safe dental practice is the element of trust. Please feel free to discuss this topic with any team member of Dr. Triplett Dental. Each team member in our offices follows procedures recommended by several federal agencies: the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
Our yearly training and review includes measures, such as the following:
- Hand washing techniques with disinfectant soaps
- Gloves and face masks-personal protective equipment
- Chemical disinfection of countertops and surfaces
- Proper sterilization techniques
- Disposable materials
- First aid kit use
- Emergency Procedures
We sterilize all reusable dental equipment, including dental hand pieces. We use an autoclave device that kills bacteria and viruses by steam, heat and pressure. Testing on this equipment to ensure proper sterilization is performed on a monthly basis. The best defense against disease is information. The more you know about our daily procedures and policies, the more comfortable you will feel.
